As Senior Advisor, Don Jones assists Avalon as a multi-faceted executive leader with over 25 years of experience in the retail industry. He has an exceptional proven track record in building retail concepts, expanding existing formats, leading through organizational change and turn-around, and creating cross-functional collaborations to attain company goals. Mr. Jones's background includes store operations, brand integration and migration, real estate, human resources, vendor relationships, sourcing, merchandising, store planning and design, and distribution. In addition, Mr. Jones is widely respected throughout the private investment sector with a global and diverse network. He is results oriented, customer focused, strategic, innovative and entrepreneurial. Mr. Jones is a passionate and inspiring presenter, who has the ability to lead others to their own success, which is exemplified in the excellent teams he has developed and mentored.

Mr. Jones has served as Senior Vice President of Stores and Operations at Gap, Inc., a position to which he was promoted from the role of Northeast Zone Vice President. After Gap, he was President and CEO of Rufus, Inc, where he developed an upscale pet retail concept. He has served in senior leadership roles in companies such as IKEA, Marshall Field’s, Lechmere, Federated Department Stores, TJX Corporation and May Company.

Don currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors at both Elaine Turner Designs and Cunningham Golf. He was chosen to serve on the New York City Investment Company's Retail and Tourism sector board by Founding Chairman Henry Kravis. Don currently serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the Ridgefield Library, the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Retail Merchant Association and the Trinity High School Foundation and is Chairman of the Connecticut Retail Merchant Association Foundation. Don has been a featured speaker on the Venture Capital & Private Equity Panel at the 2008 Babson Forum on Entrepreneurship & Innovation and a panelist at the Babson College MBA School of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Don previously served as a Director for the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and the Magnificent Mile Association and as a member of the Advisory Committee for Detroit African-American Parent Magazine and Leadership Detroit 2000.

Mr. Jones founded POGAN Consulting, formerly known as POGAN Retail, in July 2003 to realize his dream of running and guiding his own operation that would help and inspire others to achieve success. He leverages his vast experience with his insightfulness, strength of character and willingness to take risks in order to create synergistic relationships with his clients. Mr. Jones openly shares his knowledge and provides insight in balancing risk with reward and strategically selecting potentially fruitful endeavors.
